Culture in the Noordoostpolder

The Noordoostpolder has an very extraordinary history. When driving through the polder of only 65 years old, culture is not the first word to come to mind but yet the Noordostpolder is all culture. The way the Noordoostpolder was established, designed and set up is very unique. It’s also very special to see how people from all over come to Noordoostpolder to live, work and build up their future. Extremely old culture is also present here. The World Heritage Schokland is a special part of the Noordoostpolder wich tourists from all over the world comes to visit.

New culture is to be found in Nagele. This village was designed by the group of architects by the name of “ De Acht” . This village is visited every year by large groups of town-planning and architecture students from all over the world. More information you can find in Museum Nagele. And there is also the “platte daken” (flat-roofs) route which we definitely recommend.
