The vast array of tulip fields in the Northeast Polder is a feast for the eyes; yellow ones, red ones, orange and pink ones. After a winter repose, the fields burst into bloom with their beautiful tulips. With over 2,000 hectares of bulbs, the Northeast polder is the largest flower bulb region of the world.
The Tulip Flight Route offers you a magnificent view from the sky of the many tulip fields that make the Northeast Polder region the jewel it is. This is a unique experience that cannot be seen in any other part of the Netherlands.
This year is a unique year because of a huge Mondriaan painting that is depicted in tulips. This floral artwork, the size of seven football fields, pays homage to the work of the famous painter. You can see his characteristic style in the straight lines and bright primary colours.
This is an experience you cannot afford to miss! A ride in a helicopter is already an experience, but a helicopter flight above tulip fields that also reveals a Mondriaan masterpiece is an opportunity you do not get every day.
How does it work?
The helicopter flight departs from Creil (for more information see your voucher). You have three options for booking your flight. When you order, you can select whatever time suits you best. After you have booked you will receive a voucher with directions to the helipad.
There is room for two passengers in the helicopter. If you are with more than two people then your group will be split into separate flights. If you are with an odd number of people or on your own, then you may be coupled with another person who also wants to take the flight.
When you arrive at the helipad at your chosen departure time (please make sure you are on time!) you might have to wait a moment or two for an exact departure time. While you wait, it is possible to order a drink at the helipad or walk through the tulip fields for a great photo opportunity.
What do you need to know?
Nothing is as unpredictable as the weather. A warm winter can result in the tulips growing rapidly. On the other hand, if there is a cold period during the flowering process then people can admire the tulips a bit longer. Therefore, there is always a possibility that the tour may be cancelled because the tulips have not bloomed due to the weather in March or April. In that case we will cancel the tour, send you an email updating you on the situation and of course refund you the full purchase amount.
If the tulip fields are clearly visible but it is bad weather on the day of your flight, then we will call you the same day to cancel the tour. You can then decide whether to take the flight on another day or to cancel the flight completely. Upon cancellation you will be refunded the full purchase amount. Additional costs (e.g. fuel for your car) cannot be reimbursed.
If, for whatever reason, you need to cancel the flight, we cannot refund the purchase price because we need to reserve the helicopter and the pilot. Also, please note that arriving late for the helicopter flight automatically means that your flight is cancelled without the ability to move it to a different time. You will then have to make a new reservation and pay for it again. This is due to our need to reserve the helicopter and the pilot and the tight schedule concerning other guests and air traffic control.
