Wellerwaard

Wellerwaard is the newest recreational and nature area in the Noordoostpolder.

Wellerwaard is the newest recreational and nature area in the Noordoostpolder. It is large and spacious and intended for everyone who wants to enjoy nature, loves swimming, wants to play on the beach, loves walking or who just wants to take a breath of air with the dog.

Wellerwaard originated from the drawing board, just like the rest of the Noordoostpolder. Many years ago, a lot of thought went into the design of the Noordoostpolder. For example, the villages with all their facilities, schools and churches; the roads, canals and waterways, but above all the best possible layout for agricultural purposes. Recreation was less important. Now, many years later, the need for recreational facilities is increasing. Walking, cycling, swimming, horse riding and much more. That is what people have been looking for.

Wellerwaard belongs to and is for everyone. Entrance is free. There are some robust tables and chairs, sustainable bridges and duckboards and there are underground litter bins.
